Peter L. Shaw has been a practicing attorney in Texas since 1989 and has maintained his own practice since 1991. At the Law Office of Peter L. Shaw, Mr. Shaw handles estate planning matters, drafting wills and trusts and engaging in estate and probate administration. In addition, Mr. Shaw maintains a vibrant tax law practice, including tax compliance matters dealing with income tax and estate and gift tax, and tax controversy resolution/litigation on both civil and criminal matters as well as matters such as failure to file a tax return and the IRS Voluntary Disclosure Programs. Mr. Shaw also deals with forensic financial and accounting matters, and business transactions and planning for business organizations in both the profit and not for profit sectors.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Shaw worked as an accountant and tax manager with Price Waterhouse & Co. in New York and Chicago, and served clients as a Partner in the Houston Tax Department of Coopers & Lybrand, prior to returning to law school. While attending law school Mr. Shaw operated his own CPA office in Houston. Mr. Shaw is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas; with his original CPA Certificate issued in Illinois (1972). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago. In addition to obtaining his Doctor of Jurisprudence law degree from the University of Houston, Mr. Shaw also holds the advance degree of Master of Laws in Taxation.  Mr. Shaw is Board Certified in Tax Law and Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization
